Jay-z hit's Bmore

Last night was incredible, according to my sources.lls. Jay-z performed at Baltimore's 1st Mariner Arena, was welcomed by a sold out crowd!!Jay-z reportedly gave a beautiful show but strayed from Reasonable Doubt and American Gangster album songs. Most say that they definitely got a work-out from the show, and it was very exhilarating. I also heard Pharrell, Wale and Kevin Liles( B'mores own)were in the building!(pics via TheBaltimoreSun)

Tim Carves Fish.

Meet Tim, or as commoners call him affectionately "Timbo". He's been carving fish for 30 years. Originally from Florida, this Baltimore City dweller is currently homeless. No one with this talent should be homeless. I see him everyday on my journey to work in Fells Point. If you see him throw him some change like me. Pay it forward.- Ryan L.

"Tetris" Interview - Trey R.

After Trey R. killed his show at Red Maple, I decided to ask him some questions, and get him to reveal some of his history, and what his future plans are.

So , state your name, and your intent within this music game.

I go by the name of Trey.R and i plan on being a MAJOR artist...you know on a world wide basis.

Do you feel you have something different to offer to hip hop, if so explain?

Of Course, I think we all have something different which set's us apart from each other. The thing that stands out with me and my music is the fact that I'm giving you a lot more than other artist, Meaning i have no boundaries. I'm comfortable enough with myself to let my listeners hear my struggles. Growing up i always was one to observe things in my community. Seeing how fucked up life was as a youth i decided to use Hip-Hop as a platform to escape the struggles growing up in Baltimore,MD. That alone sets me apart, see where I am from I'm lucky to even be having this interview right now ya know.

Who were your favorite influences non-rap growing up?

Non-rap, ..EASY.(laughs) I'm a big Incubus fan. Morning View is one of my favorite albums. As a youth I listened to more rock then Hip-Hop. Along with Incubus..Blink 182, GreenDay, N.E.R.D., Linkin Park, ColdPlay and Gym Class Heroes.

What can we expect to hear from your upcoming mixtape Tetris?

GOOD MUSIC. With Tetris being my 1st mixtape a lot of u don't know what to expect. All I can say is 10.27.09 will a great day in bmore history.

Has Baltimore influenced your style at all?

I think so. I was born and raised here man. I grew up on club music so I'm big on that. Fashion wise, Baltimore is big on Nike's. That's all I rock man (laughs). I think that my environment has helped a lot in creating a blueprint for my music. I base a lot of my songs around my life. Being from Baltimore all my life, i think it gives u a certain feel to it.

What do you feel about the Baltimore hip hop scene?

It's in progress. I honestly see Baltimore on the rise as far as Hip Hop is concerned. We have so many great artist here.

If you had one wish, what would it be, and why?

Man i just wanna get my voice heard. that's all.

Tetris will be released on 10.27.09 via www.Abmorelovethang.com, and other major blogsites. Support your local talent!! Applause for Trey R. - Ryan L.

Bossman feat Ruscola- You already Know

You Already Know also Where it's at!

These joints are ready for the club Boss.

Update:

Queen Latifah- Just Another Day

I just bought this album from Sound Garden yesterday, for the first time. It's really dope. The production has alot of horns in it, and is similar to nas's imatic. She recorded this album after her brother Lance died, so it gives a reflective, and solemn type of vibe. The 90's production takes me back to when I was younger, and makes me think of riding around with my mother. I typically buy a new album when I need to change my mood, or be inspired. I chose this one, because I never gave Dana Owens "Queen Latifah" a true chance. She's not my favorite lyricist, but her voice, and passion get the point across. She's ill, and paved the way for these female emcees. Clap For her. - Ryan L.

T.I. - Hell of a Life

T.I. is a strong-minded guy. Jail has to be hard, at any rate, even if you are as rich as he is. I like how his voice sounds echoed in this joint. Can't wait for dude to get back home and do what he does best. He first won me over with "Be easy". Who said the south ain't got that "spit"?

Wale feat Colin Monroe- Bittersweet

Ok. Ok. You got us.

We have been in D.C for the last couple of days lampin' with our brethren. Me and Will went to a march at George Washington University, and I checked out their graduate school program. We also went to celebrate our friend India's Bday. She's a great up and coming model. This is a photo Will took of her below.

The next day we went back to D.C. celebrating DURKL's grand opening and the addition of Trey R. and Simplex to their Mixtape.
If you haven't heard of Durkl, they're a skate influenced Washington D.C. based independent clothing company. I think their going in a great direction, adding more pieces besides t-shirts to their line. Congrats to them. All in all we had a great time. Until our next adventure- Ryan L.

Trey r. feat Simplex - Material Girls

This single from Trey R. featuring Simplex is now also featured on the DURKLXJUDAH MIXTAPE! We were all in the building at the release party, and it was played their, with a great reaction. Check the mixtape out on forthedmvonly.blogspot.com/

The Roots- "How I got over"

The hook on this song struck a cord with me.I grew up in Bmore, and the mentality is "fuck it" here. We went to class, and we didn't learn. " Fuck it". We went to school without book-bags. "Fuck it". Our friends die to young."Fuck it". That kind of mentality is contagious, and it can spread to smart kids, with great parents. It's easy to say "fuck it", so we do. We need to take some sort of accountability for ourselves. Learn something, pick up a book, and become a leader. Expect greatness, and surround yourselves with those who want to be great.-Ryan L
