Stephanie Rawlings Blake Becomes Mayor of Baltimore

Baltimore City Council President Stephanie C. Rawlings-Blake takes over as mayor on Feb. 4. She inherits this position because of the resignation of Mayor Sheila Dixon as a result of a plea agreement related to charges of embezzlement and perjury. When she becomes the mayor, she inherits a series of issues as Obama did, or any president would. 200 people die in Baltimore every year due to murders. In addition to Baltimore’s yearly problems of crime and poverty, she will immediately have to handle a budget deficit, escalatiing costs of the city police and fire pension system, a General Assembly session and the fall of the plan for a Baltimore slots parlor. Mrs. Rawlings Blake hasn't had any involvement with scandals, giving her a clear background. Hopefully She can restore hope in Baltimore city!

She adressed the public today as seen on WJZ Chanel 13 news. She declared "Demand the best of your public officials, you deserve it". I'm related to Stefanie Rawlings Blake, she is my cousin, and a very sweet person. I can only hope, and pray that she does her best. She's got the city on her back now!- Ryan L.

PS: How do you guys feel about the Mayor's resignation, and Stephanie's future position?
